Friends Against Scams is a National Trading Standards Scams Team initiative which aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering people to take a stand against scams.
To help in this work Diane is currently putting this plan into action by raising awareness in the communities of Barnsley. She is raising awareness of the types of scams that are constantly emerging, how to recognise scams, how to avoid being scammed and how to report scams.
Diane is committed to this work and will continue this work throughout Barnsley.
If you want her to attend any social groups (free of charge as it is being funded by the PCC) or require any further information (65+ or vulnerable adults) please contact her on:

Cyber criminals often see the vulnerable and elderly as easy targets for their offending, but this type of crime can happen to any of us at any time, and can leave victims feeling embarrassed and reluctant to report incidents to the police or even tell their family or friends.
The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Dr Alan Billings has made it a priority in his 3 year plan Police and Crime Plan – South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (southyorkshire-pcc.gov.uk)
to ‘protect vulnerable adults’ and ‘tackle crime’. He wants to be proactive with his office and other organisations in highlighting the dangers of scams to both the public and businesses.
