FIRST AID COURSE
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to become emergency first-aiders in the
workplace or anyone who may be interested on a personal level. This qualification meets
the requirements for training emergency first-aiders in those organisations that have
identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first aid needs assessment.

People Moving People and Risk Assessment
Who is this qualification for?
The purpose of the course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to assist them in moving another person safely. Key pieces of legislation will be discussed and how it affects you and your employer. You will gain an understanding of spinal mechanics and how to reduce the risks of spinal injury, including the benefits of adopting improved posture.

Who is this qualification for?
The focus of the course is to provide learners with up to date knowledge of the safe handling of medication. Learners will understand the types of medication they may come across and how medication is supplied and obtained. Learners will understand the requirements and guidance for the safe storage of medication and understand the requirements for the safe disposal of medication. Learners will also explore how the effects of medication should be monitored and what procedures should be followed should problems with medication administration occur. Learners will also understand how information is recorded and confidentiality is maintained.

Safeguarding
Who is this qualification for?
Learners will understand their safeguarding responsibilities and what safeguarding means in practice. They will understand the types of abuse and the associated signs, symptoms and indicators of abuse, harm, or neglect. They will develop best practice when caring for others by exploring in detail the types of safeguarding concerns that can arise. Learners will also explore what actions they should take should safeguarding be disclosed or suspected. They will also understand what happens in the safeguarding process after a referral to adult social care has been made.

Who is this qualification for?
The focus of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge and practice to improve their skills in record keeping, data protection law and communication. The course will equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills that they require regarding maintaining complete, accurate and up to date records. Learners will also understand the key elements of data protection law and how to ensure that they comply. The course will also assist learners to improve communication skills through enhancing their record keeping skills, as well as exploring a range of communication methods. The course incorporates a blended learning approach which will include practical activities, case study activities and interactive presentations.

Mental Capacity and DOLS
Who is this qualification for?
The course provides learners with the knowledge they need as a social care worker their about roles and responsibilities relating to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Depravation of Liberty Safeguards. The course incorporates scenarios and case studies which will aid learning and understanding and learners will have the opportunity to apply the principles in practice utilising the case studies and scenarios. Learners will also explore the complex area of Depravation of Liberty Safeguards as well as exploring advanced planning (advanced statements and advanced decisions). Learners will also be provided with information on Lasting Power of Attorney and how these work in practice.

Who is this qualification for?
The course provides learners with the knowledge they need to work safely in their workplace. Learners will understand their responsibilities for health and safety, which includes their role and the employer’s role. Learners will understand how to identify and manage risk in the workplace. They will also understand the measures they should take in order to prevent fire hazards and if a fire should occur how to deal with a fire.

Nutrition and hydration
Who is this qualification for?
The purpose of the course is to provide learners with knowledge of how to support a person to have adequate nutrition and hydration to sustain a healthy lifestyle, promote good health and reduce the risks of malnutrition and dehydration. Learners will gain the confidence to be able to work towards meeting a person’s nutritional and wellbeing needs in a practical approach when considering the combination of a person's physical, mental, emotional and social health factors. In addition, the course also includes elements of supporting the health and wellbeing of looking after themselves mentally as well as physically.

Learners will gain the confidence to identify the early signs of an ulcer how to alert others, seek appropriate advice and prevent pressure ulcers from getting worse. Learners will have the opportunity to understand the make up of the skin tissue, causes of skin breakdown and assess skin to identify any concerns.

Who is this qualification for?
The focus of the course is to provide learners with knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations. A person is defined as a lone worker if they work alone without close or direct supervision. Like any worker, they must take care of their own health and safety and that of others and understand how to report incidents that may arise.

Who is this qualification for?
The focus of the course is to provide learners with up-to-date knowledge of dementia. Learners will be able to understand what dementia can mean, its symptoms and causes, who may be affected and how living with the condition affects everyone.
